Title : Faith
Author: Phil Pringle
Review : Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the bible tells us. It is a feeling of absolute confidence. Faith begins with an attitude, a spirit within us, a feeling of incredible confidence. Faith is what the men and women from the Hebrews Hall of Faith have, that set them apart from the ordinary Christian of their times. It is faith that pleases God, because faith implies a trust in God that overlooks every indicator in our lives that tell us not to trust Him. It is to become so single-minded and single-focused in trusting God that nothing wavers the man of faith. So foundational is faith for our lives to be effective and victorious that it is a pity that many Christians are hardly acquainted with this teaching. Without faith, a Christian can only be resigned, fatalistic and attributing every evil in life to either the ‘will of God’ or the ‘works of Satan’. When we read Dr Pringle’s book, we can be excited to discover that our destinies while created by God, can be shaped by us, when we begin to activate the faith that is in our hearts.
This book is a great starter for the new Christian just beginning to discover the teaching of faith and what it all entails. Dr Phil Pringle writes like his preaching, full of anecdotes and humour in every chapter. Before you think that this book is all charismatic airy-fairy fluff, Dr Pringle supports his teaching with tons of verses from the Bible, providing a biblical foundation for his work.
He punches in his points with illustrations of great men and women of God who have exhibited mountain-moving faith to obtain the promises from God. This book not only gives you a basic understanding of what faith is, it also inspires you with many testimonies drawn from real life as well as from the Bible.
And if you are truly hungry to know how to activate the faith in your life that God has given to every believer, do pick up a similar book that I have recommended in this site by Dr David Yonggi-Cho, entitled ‘The Fourth Dimension’. This book will complement ‘Faith’ as it provides a logical and sometimes scientific explanation of what goes on inside of us and in the spiritual realm when we pray with faith.
Chris, my wife, and I and our two children, Rebekah and Daniel, and friends Simon and Helen McIntyre, came to Sydney in 1980 to start a church. In Easter, 1980, we had about 13 people at our initial services. The church grew rapidly so we moved buildings several times, as well as buying land for a church and a School. We then began planting churches around Sydney, then around Australia, then around the world, so we now have close to three hundred churches in our movement in many different countries. Our Vision, called the 2020 Vision is to plant and grow 1000 churches by the year 2020. We are on target to do this right now.
We also started a Ministry Training College, a School of Creative Arts, a Counselling College, a Television ministry, and a School, (Oxford Falls Grammar), all on around 25 acres in Oxford Falls.
I have always wanted the arts to play a major role in church to make her contemporary and relevant to the world around us, thus our Creative Arts college has developed and graduated thousands of ministries who are musicians, worship leaders, song writers, graphic artists, dancers, actors and film makers.
I myself paint and hold exhibitions in a variety of places around the world. I also love to write, so I’ve mixed these two elements together in books like ‘Inspired to Pray’ (Regal Books), ‘But God’, Strang Publlications, ‘24 hours that saved the world’, (PaX).
Other books I’ve written include Faith, Moving in the Spirit, Leadership Excellence, Financial Excellence, Leadership Files, You the Leader.
My great love is the local church. I believe she is the hope of our world today. When she functions in the power of the Holy Spirit and lives on the Word she will thrive. See you in Church!
